2010 - Don't Compare; Just Do You in 2010!
2 Cor 10:12... For we dare not make
ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend
themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing
themselves among themselves, are not wise.
As we move into the first week of another year, let’s purpose to
become more of our authentic selves. It’s so easy to mimic other
people’s personalities, their quirky ways that seemingly draw you
into their space. And often times we’re just as quick to compare
our successes, our progress (or not) to those that appear to be hitting
the mark again and again. This year, let us each take inventory of our
own innate ability to shine in whatever fashion we choose. We each have
passions and points of concern that drive us. Our objective should be
that of making a mark in whatever field of interests we will our time,
and not how well we measure to someone else.
The corporate world calls this behavior of comparing benchmarking.
It’s a tool for researching what the standard is. Whose doing
what and how well are they doing it? While it may be useful for the
business world, let it not be so in your world. Your purpose in life
has been tailor made by God for you, and you alone. Stake your claim in
life according to the plans that He has for you, and not according to
those that pat themselves on the back.
This is not to be confused with mentorship for that’s a different
notion altogether. It’s a call of consciousness to work your
plans as God directs you and not as it has already been done.
It’s a plea to not give into the temptation to carbon copy, but
to allow your creative juices to flow without hindrances clogging your
thoughts of seeing a better you. It’s a simple idea if embraced
that will cause you to give careful consideration to the direction your
life takes.
When you become purpose driven, you will likely generate a healthy
space around you and inspiration will come. There will be little time
to consider the ways of others when you synergize your efforts to be
about your business as you have been divinely inspired.
Despite what has been said and what is being said, what you desire for
yourself can be done even now! Make the Lord the center of your life,
follow His plan of action and He will exalt you in due season. Do the
work, work the plan and plan to shine in your success as you should.
Joshua
1:8 …This book of the law
shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day
and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is
written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then
thou shalt have good success.
James
4:10 (AMP) … Humble
yourselves [feeling very insignificant] in the presence of the Lord,
and He will exalt you [He will lift you up and make your lives
significant].
Romans
12:1 (AMP) … I APPEAL to
you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of
God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your
members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted,
consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable
(rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.
